DOE 2010-2011 Calendar Released

The New York City Department of Education released the 2010-2011 School year calendar this week. To say the least the new school year will get off to an interesting start. The first day of classes will be on Wednesday, September 9th but will be immediately closed Thursday and Friday for Rosh Hashanah.

This will be certainly be difficult for families as they gear up for the first day and then suddenly have to find someone to take care of the kids on the subsequent days off.  I know for sure some parents will be debating skipping the first day all together to allow a longer vacation. We want to hear from you. Will you be sending your child to school on the first day or will you skip the first week and send your child the following Monday?
